Children of the North 2
In Brazil, no region is so little known by the others, culturally and socially, as the northern. Among cities centuries old, indigenous populations, migrants from northeastern region who came during the rubber economy cycle, european and american missionaries and scientists, the North is composed by a great sociocultural mixture, presented here through the image of the children. Being at one time sons and agents of this cultural diversity, their image faces us with the future of this region and the cultures threatened by deforestation, exploration and the neglect of the rest of the country.
The Photographer
Pipo Gialluisi has as main object of research the children of northern Brazil, focusing their relation with brazilian cultural diversity. Pipo has recently began a photographic study aiming to disseminate the brazilian culture relating it to forms, colors and symbols in the national flag.
In São Paulo is co-owner in Kafé Etudio and develops varied photographic works in shows, theatre, music, dance, events, decoration, stills, fashion, sports, besides his independent artistic production.
